Rules & Regulations
General Conduct
All members of Crosswind Airways are expected to maintain professional conduct at all times when representing our virtual airline. This includes:
- Treating all fellow members, IVAO/VATSIM controllers, and other community members with respect
- Using appropriate language in all communications
- Following instructions from Crosswind Airways staff
- Representing Crosswind Airways in a positive manner on all platforms
Flight Operations
To maintain realism and professionalism, all pilots must:
- Follow real-world procedures and protocols during all flights
- Use only approved aircraft from our fleet for official flights
- Complete the pre-flight checklist before each flight
- Adhere to assigned routes and flight plans
- Maintain professional radio communications when flying on IVAO network
- Log flight data accurately in our tracking system
- Maintain a minimum of one flight per month to keep active status
Prohibited Activities
ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY: The simulation of hijackings, terrorism, or any unlawful interference with aircraft operations is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate termination of your membership without warning.
The following activities are also prohibited:
- Flying in a reckless or unrealistic manner
- Using unauthorized software to cheat or manipulate flight data
- Harassment or disrespectful behavior toward other members
- Impersonating Crosswind Airways staff or other members
- Sharing offensive content in any Crosswind Airways communication channels
- Violating IVAO or VATSIM rules when flying on these networks
- Sharing account credentials with others
IVAO Network Compliance
As an official IVAO Partner Virtual Airline, we expect our pilots to:
- Hold a valid IVAO account
- Comply with all IVAO rules and regulations
- Complete required IVAO training before flying on the network
- Maintain appropriate voice communication protocols
- Follow ATC instructions promptly and professionally
- File proper flight plans before connecting to the network
- Use only approved callsigns with our XWA prefix
Activity Requirements
To maintain active membership status:
- Complete a minimum of one flight per month
- Participate in at least one group event per quarter
- Maintain a 90% flight completion rate
- Complete recurrent training as required
Failure to meet these requirements may result in being moved to inactive status. Inactive members must complete a reinstatement flight to regain active status.
Disciplinary Procedures
Violations of these rules may result in:
- First offense: Verbal warning
- Second offense: Written warning
- Third offense: 7-day suspension
- Fourth offense: 30-day suspension
- Fifth offense: Termination of membership
Note: Serious violations, including but not limited to simulation of hijackings, terrorism, or unlawful interference with aircraft operations, will result in immediate termination without prior warnings.
Appeals Process
Members who believe they have been unfairly penalized may submit an appeal to the Administrative Board within 7 days of receiving disciplinary action. Appeals should include:
- Your pilot ID and full name
- Date of the incident
- Description of the circumstances
- Why you believe the disciplinary action was unwarranted
The Administrative Board will review all appeals and provide a final decision within 14 days.
